Using Presentation Software for Digital Imagery in Every Classroom

Effingham County High School

Session Title: Leaping the Digital Divide with Digital Imagery in the Classroom
Presentor: Tony Brewer, Brewer Technology and Learning

The digital imagery session conducted by Tony Brewer demonstrated the possible uses of Photostory in the classroom. Photostory is a free software program that can be downloaded from Google. This program involves inserting pictures and videos, transitions, music and narrations into an easy to use, entertaining slide show. The program will allow the user to insert up to 300 pictures. Photostory can be a powerful tool for both the classroom teacher and the student.

Photostory will be used to motivate students to participate in class both individually and as a team member, to develop teamwork skills, and to use presentation software for visual aids when giving oral presentations.

In the Multimedia Presentations and Communications Technology class students are required to plan and prepare professional presentations. PowerPoint has been the only software used in the past. In the future, Photostory will be used before introducing PowerPoint.

Students are expected to use Photostory to insert photographs, apply transitions, insert music, and narrate planned presentations for assigned topics and research topics in the MPCT class. In addition to using Photostory in the MPCT class, students could use Photostory to prepare pictures to use as a visual aid for presentations in other classes. Students and teachers should be able to observe the ease and flexibility of utilizing Photostory software frequently. Users should not be distracted by too many features and should complete the presentation that accompanies their oral presentations quickly.

Teachers and students can use Photostory to leap the digital divide!
