Font and Cell Color
Excell offers additional ways to make certain cells stand out from the others. You may control the color of the text in the cell and you may control the background color of the cell. Note that Exel will support color printing if you are connected to a color printer.
The Format toolbar contains the color selection buttons:
Cell Coor Button
Font Color Button
In order to pick a color, you click on the down arrow beside the button of choice. The "paint bucket" button lets you fill the selected cell(s) with different colors . The "letter A" button lets you change the color of the typing in the selected cell(s). Depending on which down arrow you select, you get a slightly different color panel to make your selection.
No Fill is the default fill of a cell. Select the color of choice from this color palette. Select No Fill to remove your color selection. Automatic is the default color. If you change your mind about having color in text, you remove the color from the text by clicking on Automatic. Now let's take a look at what all this color might look like in an Excel project.
The cells in B2 through B8 have been filled with Red. Similarly, the cells around the text have been filled in Red.
The left column consists of different text colors.
You may combine colors with color-filled cells and text in those cells displayed in color.
A note of caution here....mix and match color text and color cells carefully. You want a nice contrast to be able to "see" the contents of the cell. Note the three examples. The yellow text against the white background..the black text against the white background...and the black text against the red background. Each cell has a different degree of visibility. Pick and choose your font colors and cell backgrounds so viewing is not a strain.
